You Gotta See This

Hot Picks & Must Sees
I recently saw the movie, “The 11th Hour,” produced and narrated by Leonardo Dicaprio. I was so amazed by this movie, because it told me things that instinctual I have always known. This movie communicated the responsibility that we all have to change this world. Please take anyone you love, or even slightly care about, to this movie. The more people we can influence, the stronger possibility of creating change faster.
Ironically, I just finished the book called, “The Road,” by Carter McCarthy. This book was about the love of a father and son, who are faced with a world disaster. The setting captured the picture of what this world would look like if we continue to abuse ourselves and the earth. The father and son are surrounded by insanity, because of the scarcity of food, and the effects of the environment. The story is about their journey of survival and how love can make the impossible, possible.
Living in Insanity
My husband and I recently returned from a trip to Europe. We have never traveled to Europe before. We have dreamed about going for many years and have put it off because of finances, timing and any other reason you can think of. Well we made up our minds to go several months ago and we began saving money to make it happen. And our friends and family just jumped in and helped us in so many ways.
While I was there, I was inspired by what I saw. We traveled to several parts of Italy, including Rome, and to Paris , France. I learned so much about our history as humans. We also learned a great deal of where we are headed as a human race.
My husband and I began having many conversations regarding how we live and how we have adapted to the insanity of our lives. We were able to pull back and really see that we were living out of balance. And some how, we had adapted to this out of balance as if it was normal to live this way. Face it, there are so many of us living out of balance; we have came to rationalize this behavior as normal. However, rationalization is a form of denial that keeps us from facing the truth. We had to ask ourselves, “How much time do we really have?” “When do we start?” NOW!
Breaking the Cycle
We have created a culture that reinforces the need to consume. We are told that we must work really hard in order to have all the things we want. This has reinforced greed, envy, and jealousy. Our need to consume has caused us to behave in insane ways. Hence, we work more and spend less time doing the things we love.
How do we break the cycle?
- Create a daily discipline of meditation; 10-15 mins. daily
- Learn more about sustainable products and replace products that are harmful to our environment
- Take frequent breaks in your work day by taking a walk outside
- Join a club, a class or spiritual community to develop new friendships and expand you thinking
- Plant a garden or pot a plant
- Purchase a reusable plastic bottle and eliminate the use of disposable plastic bottles
- Reduce the amount of television that you watch daily
- Tell yourself daily affirmations that affirm the truth of who you really are (for example, “I am good enough in everything that I do!”)
- Take a bus ride or carpool when ever possible
- Reduce the use of fossil fuels by purchasing an engery efficient vehicle
- Instill hope within yourself and with others
- Counteract a negative emotion by doing the opposite; remember intense emotions are temporary
Quote of the Month
If you saw the earth as a cell in the body of God, would you treat our environment differently?
Looking at our earth from the sky, the lights that swarm it look like an infection
Our bodies fight infection and bring back balance to our internal environment
Our earth is healing it’s self; will the human race survive this healing process?
My vision…
The human race is a healthy organism on the surface of the earth, and the earth welcomes us
We start this vision by changing our minds.
